The No. 1 nationally ranked Carleton Ravens improved to 3-0 this past weekend thanks in large part to the strong play of guard Connor Wood (Guelph, Ont.), who has been named Investors Group OUA Male Athlete of the Week.
On Friday night in North Bay, Ont., the fifth-year psychology major had a game high 25 points as the Ravens defeated the Nipissing Lakers 79-59. The Guelph, Ont. native also had five rebounds, three assists and a steal in 31 minutes of action.
He followed that up on Saturday against the Laurentian Voyageurs as the 6’4” guard had a game high 39 points in an 88-71 Ravens victory. Wood also recorded 11 rebounds, three assists to go along with a steal and a block. To say that Wood put the team on his back Saturday would be an understatement as he scored 20 points more than his next closest teammate as the Ravens defeated the Voyageurs by a 17 point margin.
Through just three regular season games, Wood leads the OUA averaging 26.7 points per game.
Wood and the Ravens will now turn their focus to the weekend as they host the No. 5 Brock Badgers and No. 6 McMaster Marauders at the Ravens' Nest.
