Dillon, Miladinovic named OUA Athletes of the Week

FEMALE: Kirsten Dillon (Surrey, BC) – 4th yr. – York Lions – Volleyball
The York Lions women’s volleyball team ended their season on a high note thanks to an outstanding final weekend from Kirsten Dillon (Surrey, BC).
Dillon, a fourth-year kinesiology and health science student-athlete, had a team high 21 assists on Friday night against the No. 7 McMaster Marauders. However, it wasn’t enough as the Marauders beat the Lions 3-1.
On Sunday afternoon, the Surrey, BC native closed out her season with 39 assists in a 3-2 victory over the Brock Badgers. Dillon's 39 assists were not only a game high but six more than the entire Badger total.
Dillon also chipped in with 4.5 points and 21 digs over the two games. The Lions team captain finished the regular season ranked sixth overall in the OUA in assists (519).
MALE: Aleksa Miladinovic (Toronto, Ont.) – 5th yr – Toronto Varsity Blues – Volleyball
Setter Aleksa Miladinovic (Toronto, Ont.) had a huge weekend for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues as they clinched a home playoff game for the first time in 12 seasons.
Miladinovic, a fifth-year pharmacy major, had 84 assists and 15 digs this weekend as the Varsity Blues swept their weekend series with the visiting Western Mustangs and Windsor Lancers.
On Friday night against Western, the 6-foot-4 setter had a career-high 57 assists and nine digs as Toronto edged Western 3-2. With the victory, the Blues clinched fourth place in the OUA men's volleyball standings.
The Toronto, Ont. native wasn’t done there as the following night he recorded 27 assists and six digs in Toronto's regular season finale victory over the Windsor Lancers.
Miladinovic and the Varsity Blues will now turn their attention to their quarterfinal matchup on Saturday afternoon against the Waterloo Warriors.
