Rowan's Law
The Province of Ontario is a national leader in concussion management and prevention. Effective July 1, 2019, sport organizations have been required to ensure that athletes, parents of athletes under 18, coaches, and officials confirm every year that they have reviewed Ontario's concussion awareness resources. As well, sport organizations must have established a concussion code of conduct that sets out rules of behaviour to support concussion prevention.
As of January 1, 2022, sport organizations have also been required to establish and make available Removal-from-Sport and Return-to-Sport Protocols and identify a designated person(s) to be responsible for these protocols. Retention policies for personal information must also be created.
